In Aguas de Lindoia we spent the night in a pousada with a fantastic panoramic view and started the 3rd day with bird watching and a walk through the central park. Our next stop was Serra Negra, famous for its textile and leather industries and rural products („da roça“), like salami and cheese. The rest of the day was dedicated to driving the approx. 530 km to Curitiba , capital of the State of Parana with its 1,7 million inhabitants. There are numerous highways around São Paulo with few indications of direction and/or cities. If you don’t know the name of the highway and/or the number of the same, you easily get lost. On your way to Curitiba, you have to take the “Rodovia Anel” (SP 021) and then the highway / national road SP-BR 116 „Regis Bittencourt“. Unfortunately we got stocked into a huge traffic jam, surrounded by trucks, because of an accident at „Saida 19″, thus loosing quite a bit of time. This highway, connecting São Paulo and Curitiba, is called „Autopista da morte“. Luckily we did not see any more accidents – although there is a huge number of trucks passing at high speed. Half of the way is no highway but a national road with 3 tracks only, which leads – altering down- and up-hill parts – to constant stop-and-goes, requiring full attention. That is why we reached
From October 7 till 21, the travelling car ist going from Brasília to Curitiba, Foz de Iguacu and Bonito. 2nd Day: Catalão – Ribeirão Preto – Aguas de Lindoia – 680 km From Catalão, we drove more to the South on very good highways (Pedagio is charged); traffic was moderate. At the division of Goias and Minas Gerais we crossed the Rio Paranaiba. We passed Uberlandia and Uberaba, a region of intensive soja and sugar cane production. It was amazing to realize that fields with ripe sugar cane were side-by-side to fields with young small plants, which means that cultivation is done pemanently i.e. independantly of season and climate. After 5 hours we reached Ribeirão Preto where we had a drink in the famous “Pinguim Bar” (since 1936) located beside the “Theatro Pedro II” at the Praça 15 de Novembro. We made it till Aguas de Lindoia, a charming place with hot springs, frequented by the people of São Paulo for a weekend rest. Tomorrow we shall take some day-light fotos to show to you. From October 7 till 21, the travelling car is going from Brasília to Curitiba, Foz de Iguaçu and Bonito. 1st Day: Brasília (DF) – Catalão (GO), 320 km After a 4-hours-drive on a mostly very well condicioned road, we arrived in Tres Rancho. This small village is located 30 km from Catalão, at the shore of the Barragem de Emborcação, an immense barrier lake of the Rio Sao Miguel. General leisure and fishing attract both nearby-citizens and tourists. The fish restaurants and a wonderful sunset make you feel like being on holiday. As local government elections had been held today, October 7, citizens of Catalão celebrated the election victory of the PSDB over the PMDP which ruled for the last 4 mandates. The immense, never-ending car parade was accompanied by earsplitting “music” (mostly monotone bass noise) and lasted till midnight. Catalão is a fast growing town with the main industries being the production of phosphate and lingerie and car assembling (Mitsubishi). The town attracts tourists every year, end of September till mid-October during the season of the “Congadas“: a festival in honour of the ransomed slaves and N.S. do Rosário. This year, the festival will take place from October 12 – 14. Entre os dias 4 e 7 de outubro, se realiza na ExpoBrasilia, no Pavilhão do Parque da Cidade, Brasília, a 3º edição da Entre as atrações do evento, que oferece palestras e oficinas, no dia 06, as 19h30, acontece o Brasília Fashion Flores, um desfile de moda com roupas customizadas, organizado pela Central Flores e pela ABAF – Academia Brasileira de Artistas Florais. Quem está responsável pela customização dos vestidos com belíssimas flores são Carlos Weiss e Robson Viana. São dez looks inspirados em vestidos clássicos da moda, feitos com flores produzidas em Brasília. O evento engloba toda a cadeia produtiva do setor, como lojistas, fornecedores, empresas de cerimoniais, paisagistas, arquitetos, atacadistas, especialistas em decoração e estudantes. “Os resultados positivos das duas primeiras edições impulsionaram ainda mais o segmento. Em sua segunda edição, o evento atraiu 30 mil pessoas e movimentou R$1,5 milhão de reais em negócios. Esse ano, são mais de 200 estandes de exposição e comercialização de produtos gerando uma projeção de R$ 3 milhões de reais em negócios a serem realizados”, afirma o organizador do evento, Fernando Miranda.
